A Processor's Workflow for Bank Statement Loans

Oct 16, 2026 · Varaxon Technologies LLC d/b/a StatementReady

This is general practice for education, not underwriting guidance. Program rules vary; check your lender's current guide.

Bank statement loans have more moving parts than a W-2 file. A consistent workflow keeps the file moving and cuts the conditions that come back.

1. Intake

Confirm the program, the look-back period (12 or 24 months), statement type (business or personal), ownership percentage and expense factor approach.

2. Completeness

Check every month and page is present for every account. Request gaps right away.

3. Reconcile

Tie each statement to its printed opening and closing balances. Fix misreads and chase missing pages before you calculate anything.

4. Build the worksheet

Back out transfers, refunds and other non-income deposits. Apply ownership and the expense factor. Note every exclusion.

5. Large deposits

Compute the threshold from qualifying income using the program's definition and flag deposits over it.

6. NSF and overdraft review

Count NSF and overdraft occurrences in the period the program specifies and compare them with its limit.

7. LOE and sourcing requests

Put every open question into one list for the borrower: each deposit or event by date, amount and account.

8. Final check

Recheck totals after any change, confirm all conditions are answered, and submit.

FAQ

Is this workflow lender-specific?

No. It's a general order of operations. Apply your lender's rules at each step.

Who should own the LOE list?

Whoever talks to the borrower. One consolidated list beats several separate requests.

Can contract processors use StatementReady?

Yes, the features are the same. If you process files for more than one brokerage, email support@statementready.net before you upload.
